The Rewards of Allah

https://www.khutbah.info/the-rewards-of-allah/ The generosity of Allah, the Exalted, is without limit, and cannot be enumerated. This becomes clear when reflecting upon the rewards associated with righteous deeds. These rewards are described with multiple attributes indicating their greatness and perpetuity, and that the actual righteous deeds are nothing in comparison to these rewards. The Most Generous, Who guides to faith and righteous deeds, is the One Who recompenses with the greatest of rewards. Indeed, He Almighty has promised reward to whoever believes and does righteous deeds. Allah Almighty said:

Verily, all praise is for Allah. We praise Him, we seek His assistance and we ask for His forgiveness. And we seek refuge in Him from the evils of our selves. Whoever Allah guides, none can misguide. Whoever He misguides, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no deity other than Allah and I bear witness that Mohammad is His slave and messenger.

Al Imran 102 : O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam.

Oh people:

The generosity of Allah, the Exalted, is without limit, and cannot be enumerated.

Al-Baqarah (2) 277: Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds and establish prayer and give zakah will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.

In the Quran, there are multiple descriptions for the rewards given for faith and righteous deeds. These descriptions serve as motivation for believers to remain steadfast upon faith and to increase in righteous deeds.

Among the descriptions of the rewards from the Most Merciful, Glorified is He, is that these rewards are everlasting and unending, and are complete and do not decrease. Allah, the Exalted, said:

Hud (11) 108: But as for those who were blessed, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord should will – a bestowal uninterrupted.

And He, Glorified is He, said:

Fussilat (41) 8: Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds will have a reward uninterrupted.

That is a reward that is neither decreased nor cut off.

Among the descriptions of the rewards from the Most Merciful, Glorified is He, is that these are preserved rewards, nothing of them will be lost. Allah, the Exalted, said:

Aali ’Imran (3) 171: They rejoice in favor from Allah and bounty and [in the fact] that Allah does not allow the reward of believers to be lost.

And He, the Exalted, said:

“Al-A’raf (7) 170: Indeed, We do not allow to be lost the reward of the reformers.

And He, the Exalted, said:

At-Tawbah (9) 120: Indeed, Allah does not allow the reward of those who do good to be lost.

And He, the Exalted, said:

Al-Kahf (18) 30: Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds – indeed, We will not allow to be lost the reward of any who did well in deeds.

Among the descriptions of the rewards from the Most Merciful, Glorified is He, is that these are great rewards as He, the Exalted, said:

Aali ’Imran (3) 172: For those who did good among them and feared Allah is a great reward.

And He, the Exalted, said:

Aali ’Imran (3) 179: And if you believe and fear Allah, then for you is a great reward.

And He, the Exalted, said:

An-Nisa’ (4) 40: Indeed, Allah does not do injustice, [even] as much as an atoms weight; while if there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward.

And He, the Exalted, said:

An-Nisa’ (4) 146: And Allah will give the believers a great reward.

And He, the Exalted, said:

Al-Ma’idah (5) 9: Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds [that] for them there is forgiveness and great reward.

Among the descriptions of the rewards from the Most Merciful, Glorified is He, is that these are noble rewards. Allah, the Exalted, said:

Al-Ahzab (33)  44: Their greeting the Day they meet Him will be, Peace.’ And He has prepared for them a noble reward.

And He, the Exalted, said:

Ya-Sin (36) 11: You can only warn one who follows the message and fears the Most Merciful unseen. So give him good tidings of forgiveness and noble reward.

And He, the Exalted, said:

Al-Hadid (57) 11: Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He will multiply it for him and he will have a noble reward?

And He, the Exalted, said:

Al-Hadid (57) 18: Indeed, the men who practice charity and the women who practice charity and [they who] have loaned Allah a goodly loan – it will be multiplied for them, and they will have a noble reward.

Among the attributes of the rewards of the Most Merciful—Glorified is He—is that they are mighty rewards, as Allah the Exalted said:

Hud (11) 11: Except for those who are patient and do righteous deeds; those will have forgiveness and mighty reward.

Al-Isra (17) 9: Indeed, this Quran guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a mighty reward.

Fatir (35) 7: But they who believe and do righteous deeds – for them is forgiveness and mighty reward.

Al-Mulk (67) 12: Indeed, those who fear their Lord unseen will have forgiveness and mighty reward.

And among the attributes of the rewards of the Most Merciful—Glorified is He—is that they are fine rewards, as Allah the Exalted said:

Al-Kahf (18) 2: And to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a fine reward.

Al-Fath (48) 16: But if you obey, Allah will give you a fine reward.

And in addition, Allah rewards the best of deeds. Such that the best of deeds and the best of rewards are combined.  This is generosity and grace from Allah, the Exalted, to His believing servants, as He said:

An-Nahl (16) 96: And We will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do.

An-Nahl (16) 97: Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer – We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.

And among the attributes of the rewards of the Most Merciful—Glorified is He—is that they are multiplied rewards, as Allah the Exalted said:

Al-An’am (6) 160: Whoever comes [on the Day of Judgment] with a good deed will have ten times the like thereof [to his credit].

And the Prophet ﷺ said:

A good deed is rewarded tenfold up to seven hundred times. [al-Bukhari 41]

With these many great attributes of divine rewards, it is no wonder that Allah Almighty praises them. Allah Almighty said:

Aali ’Imran (3) 136: Those – their reward is forgiveness from their Lord and gardens beneath which rivers flow [in Paradise], wherein they will abide eternally; and excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers.

Al-Ankabut (29) 58: But those who have believed and done righteous deeds – We will surely assign to them [elevated] chambers in Paradise beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. Excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers.

When the people of Paradise enter Paradise and see the rewards of their deeds, they will praise Allah Almighty and extol the rewards of their deeds. Allah Almighty said:

Az-Zumar (39) 74: And they will say, Praise to Allah, who has fulfilled for us His promise and made us inherit the earth [so] we may settle in Paradise wherever we will. And excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers.

So it is fitting for the people of faith to be earnest and diligent in righteous deeds. For their rewards are great, mighty, noble, fine, multiplied, preserved, lasting, never decreased nor cut off.

I say what you have heard and I seek forgiveness from Allah for me and you from every sin. So seek forgives from Him, Verily He is Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

Second Khutbah

All praise is to Allah, and peace and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and I bear witness that there is no deity other than Allah and I bear witness that Mohammad is His slave and messenger.

Oh Muslims:

And the divine reward is also described as being the best. Allah Almighty said:

Yusuf (12) 57: But the reward of the Hereafter is better for those who believed and were fearing Allah.

Al-Muzzammil (73) 20: And whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allah. It is better and greater in reward.

And the secret of that is in His statement, the Exalted:

Al-A’la (87) 17: But the Hereafter is better and more lasting.

And His statement, the Exalted:

Ad-Duha (93) 4: And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life].

So, what is in the Hereafter is better than everything in this world, because the Hereafter is better than this world. It will remain and does not perish, while this world will perish and does not remain. For this reason, a small righteous deed is better than everything in this world, because its reward will remain and does not perish, while what is in this world will perish and does not remain.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

The two rakahs before Fajr are better than the world and all that is in it. [Muslim 725a]

And the Prophet ﷺ said:

That I say: Subhanallah, and Alhamdulillah, and La ilaha illa Allah, and Allahu Akbar’ is more beloved to me than all that the sun has risen upon. [Muslim 2695]

And if the believer truly understands that, they will love Allah Almighty and submit to Him in servitude, and increase their praise, thanks, and extolling of Him. For He has arranged these great rewards for faith and righteous action, then guided them to that, and taught them, and informed of the rewards. So that they may spend their entire lives in faith and righteous deeds, making this world a vehicle for the Hereafter. Thus, this world will not be their utmost concern, mission or goal. For they will inevitably depart from it to a home that is their true abode.  And there awaits them an accounting and recompense for their deeds, and either success or loss, and bliss or torment, and Paradise or Hellfire.

Therefore, only the deluded are deceived by this world and only the lost live for it, and only the wretched magnify its adornments.

Aali ’Imran (3) 185: Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion.

We ask Allah, the Exalted, for His noble bounty. Indeed Allah is All Hearing, Answering.

I conclude with this and send prayers of blessings and peace upon your Prophet as your Lord commanded:

Al Ahzaab (33) 56: Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [ Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [ Allah to grant him] peace.

O Allah, guide us with those whom You have guided, grant us well-being among those You have granted well-being, be an ally to us along with those whom You are an ally to, and bless what You have bestowed upon us, and save us from the evil of what You have decreed.  For verily You decree and none can decree over You. He whom You support can never be humiliated. Glory is to You, our Lord, You are Blessed and Exalted.

O Allah, We ask You for all that is good, in this world and in the Hereafter, what we know and what we do not know. O Allah, we seek refuge with You from all evil, in this world and in the Hereafter, what we know and what we do not know. O Allah, we ask You for the good that Your servant and Prophet has asked You for, and we seek refuge with You from the evil from which Your servant and Prophet sought refuge. O Allah, we ask You for Paradise and for that which brings one closer to it, in word and deed, and we seek refuge in You from Hell and from that which brings one closer to it, in word and deed. And we ask You to make every decree that You decree concerning us good

Servants of Allah. Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.

Remember Allah, the Great – He will remember you. Thank Him for His favors – He will increase you therein.  And seek forgiveness from Him – He will forgive you. And be conscious of Him – He will provide you a way out of difficult matters. And, establish the prayer.
