The Blessing of Creation

https://www.khutbah.info/the-blessing-of-creation/ All praise is due to Allah the Especially Merciful, the Entirely Merciful. The Most Generous, The Bestower: Ar Rahman (55) 1-4: (1) The Most Merciful (2) Taught the Quran, (3) Created man, (4) [And] taught him eloquence. We praise Him with the praise of the grateful. And we seek His forgiveness with the humility of the repentant. And we ask Him of His great bounty. For He is the Knowing Creator. The All Provider, Most Generous. Allah, Glory be to Him, reminded His servants of His creation of them. So that they worship Him, alone and do not associate anything with Him. For The One Who created, is The One Who must be worshipped:Al Baqarah (2) 21:  O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous – His Prophet ﷺ used to remember Allah at all times. And was grateful to Allah Almighty in all situations. And he ﷺ pondered a lot about His signs and blessings.  So be conscious of Allah Almighty and obey Him and submit to Him. And establish your religion for His sake. For He the Almighty did not create you except for that. An Nisa (4)1: O mankind, be conscious of your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer. The blessing of the creation of mankind is the greatest blessing after the the blessing of guidance. For if man was not created he would have been nothing. And if man was not created, he would not have known Allah Almighty. And he would have not known the Almighty’s Prophets, books and decrees. And had he not been created, he would not have enjoyed the world and its pleasures in all the phases of his existence – in his childhood, youth and old age. And had he not been created, he would not have been mentioned. And he would not have a name, family, children, occupation or output.

Verily, all praise is for Allah. We praise Him, we seek His assistance and we ask for His forgiveness. And we seek refuge in Him from the evils of our selves. Whoever Allah guides, none can misguide. Whoever He misguides, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no deity other than Allah and I bear witness that Mohammad is His slave and messenger.

Al Imran 102 : O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam.

Oh people:

All praise is due to Allah the Especially Merciful, the Entirely Merciful. The Most Generous, The Bestower:

Ar Rahman (55) 1-4: (1) The Most Merciful (2) Taught the Quran, (3) Created man, (4) [And] taught him eloquence.

For The One Who created, is The One Who must be worshipped:

Al Baqarah (2) 21:  O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous –

His Prophet ﷺ used to remember Allah at all times.

The blessing of the creation of mankind is the greatest blessing after the blessing of guidance.

Maryam (19) 67: Does man not remember that We created him before, while he was nothing?

And the blessing of the creation of man is a ongoing blessing as long as he exists. And it deserves constantly thanking the Creator – Glory be to Him. And in reminding mankind of his need to be constantly grateful for the blessing of creation, Allah opened the Surah of Al Insan with:

Al Insan (76) 1-3 : (1) Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? (2) Indeed, We created man from a drop mixed fluids that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. (3) Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful.

And in several places in the Quran, the mention of the creation of man is coupled with being grateful to Allah Almighty. Which indicates that Allah Almighty’s creation of man is an enduring blessing from Allah, The Most High, upon man.

Al Araf 189-192: (189) It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he might dwell in security with her. And when he [i.e., man] covers her, she carries a light burden [i.e., a pregnancy] and continues therein. And when it becomes heavy, they both invoke Allah, their Lord, “If You should give us a good [child], we will surely be among the grateful.” (190) But when He gives them a good [child], they ascribe partners to Him concerning that which He has given them. Exalted is Allah above what they associate with Him. (191) Do they associate with Him those who create nothing and they are [themselves] created? (192) And they [i.e., the false deities] are unable to [give] them help, nor can they help themselves.

And when the created servant offers gratitude for the blessing of creation, he benefits and it does not benefit Allah, the Most High. Just as if he meets the blessing of creation with denial, he harms himself and does not harm Allah, The Most High, at all. And this is the great meaning that every person must understand. And this reminder came in Allah Almighty’s Words:

Az Zumar 6-7: (6) He created you from one soul. Then He made from it its mate, and He produced for you from the grazing livestock eight mates. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, within three darknesses. That is Allah, your Lord; to Him belongs dominion. There is no deity except Him, so how are you averted? (7) If you disbelieve – indeed, Allah is Free from need of you. And He does not approve for His servants disbelief. And if you are grateful, He approves [i.e., likes] it for you; and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you about what you used to do. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

And no matter how much the created devotes to the Creator, he will not render gratitude for the favor of creation. And no matter how much he dedicates in worship and how much his tongue moves in thanking Him the Almighty, his gratitude will not be equal to the grace of His Lord the Almighty upon him.  For were it not that Allah – the Most High – created him, he would not have been honored with servitude to Him, Glory be to Him. And had it not been that Allah the Exalted guided him to his worship and being grateful to Him, he would not have known how to worship Him and be grateful to Him. And we understand this great meaning by knowing the conditions of those who lived in the period before Islam. And their hearts were torn from longing for the worship of Allah Almighty. And they did not know the way of worshipping Him the Almighty. Except that they strived and supplicated. As was narrated from Zaid bin Amr bin Nufayl – may Allah Almighty have mercy on him. He died before the prophetic mission greatly longing to realize it and to worship Allah Almighty with knowledge and insight. And he used to supplicate: “ Oh Allah if I know which manner is most beloved to you, I would have worshipped you through it, but I do not know it” Then he would prostrate on his palm.

And the individual knows his Lord – Glory be to Him – by his instinct and by what Allah Almighty gave him of hearing, sight and reason. For By listening, one hears the verses of Allah – the Most High – which indicate that the Quran is His Words. And He hears the evidences and proofs, that indicate His right to be worshipped exclusively. And through sight, he sees His creation that indicate His greatness, Glory be to Him. And through reason, he perceives all of that and understands it, so he is guided to Allah and worshipping and being  grateful to Him.  And this is indicated by several verses. From among them are the Words of Allah Almighty:

As-Sajdah (32) 6-9: (6) That is the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, (7) Who perfected everything which He created and began the creation of man from clay. (8) Then He made his posterity out of the extract of a liquid disdained. (9)  Then He proportioned him and breathed into him from His [created] soul and made for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect]; little are you grateful.

And the verse of the creation of mankind was the reason that Jubair bin Mut’em ( جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ ), may Allah be pleased with him, entered Islam. As he said:

I heard the Prophet reciting surah At-Tur during Maghreb and when he reached this verse:

At Tur (52) 35-37: (35) Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]? (36) Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain. (37) Or have they the depositories [containing the provision] of your Lord? Or are they the controllers [of them]?

He said: My heart was about to fly out. [Bukhari 4854]

I say what you have heard and I seek forgiveness from Allah for me and you from every sin. So seek forgives from Him, Verily He is Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

Second Khutbah

All praise is to Allah, and peace and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and I bear witness that there is no deity other than Allah and I bear witness that Mohammad is His slave and messenger.

Oh Muslims:

Every human being must know that when Allah Almighty created him, He the Almighty did not create him in vain. And that man will not be left neglected.

Al Mominoon (23) 115: Then did you think that We created you uselessly and that to Us you would not be returned?”

Rather He the Almighty created him to worship Him.

Adh-Dhariyat (51) 56: And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.

And if the servant is certain of this, he knows his need for Allah – the Most High. And that he has no power or strength except through Him the Almighty. And that he will not attain whatever he requests except through the command of Allah the Almighty. And he will not be saved from whatever he fears except through the safeguarding of Allah Almighty. And whatever afflicts him is by the decree of Allah Almighty. So he attaches his heart to his Lord, Creator and Master. And he directs his desire towards Him the Almighty. And he dedicates his reverence towards Him the Almighty. And he knows that Allah Almighty created him to worship Him the Most High. So he does not deviate from this great and noble purpose for which he was created. And he does not get lost from it in the valleys of this worldly life. And every time that he forgets, he returns and remembers that Allah – the Most High – is his Creator. And that his creation mandates gratitude. And that the aim for his creation is to worship his Lord, Glory be to Him. So he lives in this world contently due to the attachment of his heart to his Lord Almighty. And he will return to Him in the hereafter and be fortunate in his closeness to Him the Blessed and Exalted.

We ask Allah to make us among those who appreciate his bounties upon us and that we demonstrate our gratitude through obeying Him, The Most High. And that we fulfill the purpose for which we were created. Indeed Allah is All Hearing, Answering.

I conclude with this and send prayers of blessings and peace upon your Prophet as your Lord commanded:

Al Ahzaab (33) 56: Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [ Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [ Allah to grant him] peace.

O Allah, guide us with those whom You have guided, grant us well-being among those You have granted well-being, be an ally to us along with those whom You are an ally to, and bless what You have bestowed upon us, and save us from the evil of what You have decreed.  For verily You decree and none can decree over You. He whom You support can never be humiliated. Glory is to You, our Lord, You are Blessed and Exalted.

O Allah, We ask You for all that is good, in this world and in the Hereafter, what we know and what we do not know. O Allah, we seek refuge with You from all evil, in this world and in the Hereafter, what we know and what we do not know. O Allah, we ask You for the good that Your servant and Prophet has asked You for, and we seek refuge with You from the evil from which Your servant and Prophet sought refuge. O Allah, we ask You for Paradise and for that which brings one closer to it, in word and deed, and we seek refuge in You from Hell and from that which brings one closer to it, in word and deed. And we ask You to make every decree that You decree concerning us good

Servants of Allah. Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.

Remember Allah, the Great – He will remember you. Thank Him for His favors – He will increase you therein.  And seek forgiveness from Him – He will forgive you. And be conscious of Him – He will provide you a way out of difficult matters. And, establish the prayer.
